Progress & Awards

Teachers assess swimmers throughout their normal lessons, looking at how consistently skills can be performed rather than relying on one-off tests. 

Each level has defined skills and outcomes, helping teachers make consistent decisions about when a swimmer is practising, assessed or ready to progress. 

Swimmers move forward when they have demonstrated the required skills confidently and consistently, rather than after a fixed number of lessons. 

Water Confidence and each Learn level include four progress badges — Star, Rocket, Buoy and Wave — helping recognise achievement throughout the level. 

Once all required skills within a level are completed, swimmers receive the full level certificate to mark their achievement and progression. 

Within the Swim levels, swimmers work towards milestone distance awards as their technique, endurance and overall swimming ability develop.
